Springtime in Arizona is one of our favorite season. You may not associate the desert with having a robust spring season, but if you have not experienced it for yourself, you should add this to your bucket list.  The weather is often perfect; wildflowers are in full bloom and a variety of events that take place throughout the valley.

OPTIMUM WEATHER

The ultimate weather happens between March and May. Often temperatures range between 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (20-30 degrees Celsius) with full sun.  The wet season with colder nights are generally gone and the dry, desert heat has not yet arrived. This is the perfect time to book that hiking, golfing, or general exploring trip and get outdoors! These seasons can often be the ‘in-between’ for the rest of the country when it is not really hot or sunny for consecutive days yet. If you have not experienced the spring in Arizona, now is your time.

BUDDING BEAUTY

When thinking of Arizona, is wildflowers one of the top things that comes to mind? Probably not, but it should be. The bright colors of the budding flowers against the desert landscape creates a majestic sight. If you time it right, you can see poppies, lupines, desert marigolds, and brittle brush bursting with color.  You will want to make sure your phone is fully charged so you can capture photos of this natural beauty that occurs each year.

Some of our favorite stops to see the brilliant colors are:

  • Desert Botanical Garden – just 2.5 miles from Scottsdale Park Suites
  • Lost Dutchman State Park  -located outside of the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction
  • McDowell Sonoran Preserve  – 200 miles of trails perfect for all level hikers
  • Saguaro National Park- located south of Scottsdale in Tucson.
  • Picacho Peak State Park- located between Casa Grande and Tucson, a great day trip from SPS!

EXPLORE THE OUTDOORS

Outdoor adventure-these warm, not yet hot days, are the perfect time to embark on your next adventure. Morning, afternoon and evenings are all a great time to play a round of golf, hike a trail at one of the many trails in and around Scottsdale or just explore all Scottsdale has to offer outdoors.  There are many unique ways to spend a day in Scottsdale such as horseback riding, ATV trail rides, even kayaking/paddle boarding at Tempe Town Lake. Tip: take a day trip to hike the many trails Sedona has to offer for breathtaking views of the magnificent red rocks!

As spring arrives, Spring Training games come to an end.  There is time however to still catch a few games before the season officially begins. Purchase tickets and grab your favorite ballpark treats and cheer on your favorite players as well as watch the next up and coming Major League Baseball start play.
